چکیده

In this study, an innovative composite was fabricated in which the matrix is partially derived from natural sources and filler undervalued eggshell waste material. The effect of coating eggshells mineral limestone with 2 wt.% stearic acid on mechanical properties a bio-epoxy investigated. Eggshells (untreated acid-treated) fillers were added to quantities 5, 10, 20 loadings using solution mixing technique. CaCO3 content confirmed be 88 wt.%, crystalline phase found calcite. did not show any decrease crystallinity fillers. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) displayed changes fractured surfaces, infers altered polymer. property results showed enhancements tensile modulus flexural compared pure bio-epoxy, as expected. contrast, despite improvement strengths acid-treated fillers, strength values higher than those unfilled matrix. energy absorbed by all composites Charpy impact tests fell below that decreased increase for both untreated tested at 23 −40 °C. Statistical analysis conducted Analysis Software (SAS) ranking based Tukey’s method. study identified addition may acceptable provided end product requires lower load requirements bio-epoxy. However, 5 would better choice.

Synthesis and Characterization of Novel Epoxy Geopolymer Hybrid Composites

The preparation and the characterization of novel geopolymer-based hybrid composites are reported. These materials have been prepared through an innovative synthetic approach, based on a co-reticulation in mild conditions of commercial epoxy based organic resins and a metakaolin-based geopolymer inorganic matrix. This synthetic strategy allows the obtainment of a homogeneous dispersion of the o...

Mechanical characterization of cellulose nanofiber and bio-based epoxy composite

Cellulose nanofibers are one class of natural fibers that have resulted in structures with remarkable mechanical properties. In this study, the cellulose nanofibers are used as reinforcements in the forms of layered films in a bio-derived resin. Assessment of swelling behavior is performed together with an assessment of the tension and fracture behavior. Crack resistance behavior is compared to...
